hmm, I read the first above this before my comment. I always check the stove doors before going to bed, usually throwing a log on, not that it is going to keep the house that much warmer, but usually I have coals when I get up to start another. I touch the floor and carpet sometimes to check the temperature or spark. stoves get very dirty.
